We are still asked by some computer users why they can not “See” a program in Windows 10, Windows 8 or even Windows 7. It looks like those users come from the old Windows XP system, which provides a start program list panel. Started from Windows 7, the Windows system provides a “smart” search bar, where users can input short keywords to pick a program quickly but they do not have to locate the program from either a program list or a special menu group.

Here we use Windows 10 as an example. We are going to run Notepad.

1: In the newest Windows 10 version, you normally have a Search box on the bottom left corner, which is on the task bar . If you know Microsoft Cortana, you should know where the Search box is because it is combined with the Cortana function;

2: Just input several characters such as part of target program’s name, ie: “no” or “not” or “note” in our case, the “Notepad” program (application) will be found instantly. Now you can directly click Notepad to run.
